Django Fundamentals

Learn Django in one hands-on day by building RescueScout, a site for an animal rescue.

Course Goals

By the end of this course you'll have:

  • A Django project with models and migrations on a Postgres database
  • An admin where the rescue's employees and volunteers manage the site's data, with groups and permissions that decide what each of them can do
  • Pages rendered from Django templates, and a form that validates submissions
  • A JSON API built with Django REST Framework

Prerequisites

  • A working knowledge of Python
  • Understanding basic concepts of HTTP APIs and web frameworks
  • The ability to run commands on a Unix-like shell

You don't need to have used Django before.

Requirements
